Club Training Staff
Ian Russell
Once a
player for the San Jose Earthquakes, Ian Russell is currently the
Assistant Coach of the Earthquakes. Ian spent six seasons playing
for the Earthquakes, scoring five goals and notching 20 assists.
The
Seattle, Washington native played in 145 games with San Jose and won
two MLS Cups in 2001 and 2003. Russell also played in 2007 with the
Los Angeles Galaxy along side the likes of David Beckham and Landon
Donovan (who he also played with in San Jose) and under Coach Frank
Yallop (who is now the San Jose Earthquakes Head Coach).
Prior to
joining the Earthquakes, Russell played for the Seattle Sounders in
1998 and in 1999, winning the offensive MVP in 1999. Russell
attended the University of Washington on a soccer scholarship and
was First All Pac 10 in 1994 and 1997 as well as three-time
(1995-97) All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation First Team
selection.
Russell
also trained with Stockport County FC in the English 1st Division.
Russell
began coaching while playing for the Seattle Sounders and has
continued coaching youth in the Bay Area. Russell currently holds a
USSF National "B" Coaching License and is planning to take the “A”
License course in January, 2009.

Jason Batty
Jason
Batty, a native New Zealander (Kiwi), is the current goalkeeper
coach for the San Jose Earthquakes. He came to the Bay Area in 2008
after a number of years coaching youth and collegiate players.
Most
recently, he was the Director of Goalkeeping for Texas Premier SC
while serving as a coach for a number of soccer academies and camps.
He previously served as an assistant coach and the goalkeeper coach
for Dartmouth College.
As a
player, he played professionally for 14 seasons in England,
Singapore, New Zealand and the United States. He earned 55 caps for
New Zealand's national team.
Batty
currently holds a USSF National "A" Coaching License.

CHAD GLEAVE
Once a
midfield standout for San Jose State University’s soccer team, Chad
Gleave has turned his attention to youth development. Chad has been
an integral part of the CV Gunners Club for over 2 years now as both
a trainer and coach.
With his
impressive form on the ball, he has provided individual and small
group footskills training in the South Bay for a variety of youth.
Chad has also been part of the Santa Clara University youth summer
camp training staff.
Chad is
currently planning to obtain his National “D” Coaching License in
2009.
